Playing Chicken with God is Sarah Erstwhile’s story of realizing her husband was an alcoholic—something that took her by surprise. She reveals how she came to the realization that she did not have a functional definition of what an alcoholic acted like—as well as why she was unprepared to deal with alcoholism.
Sarah also answers questions such as:

Sarah’s goal in sharing her story is to validate the feelings of nonalcoholic partners who find themselves struggling to be happy in a marriage or a serious relationship. She writes unapologetically about trying to make it work for more than twenty years and eventually having to bury her husband.
